2012 UC Davis Summer Institute on Computing and STEM Education

The C-STEM Center will host the 2012 UC Davis Summer Institute on Computing and STEM Education on July 2 – July 13 for K-12 STEM and CS teachers. The two-week long Summer Institute will offer two one-week courses. The first week is on “Pre-Algebra and Algebra I Support — Using 21st Century Skills To Strengthen Logical Thinking” and the second week is on “Introduction to Computing and Robotics”. This intensive summer institute is designed to train teachers on the principles of computing and its teaching pedagogy, how to teach math labs for Algebra using interactive computing and programming and robotics, how to teach computer programming and computer science with robotics, and how to integrate computing, engineering, and robotics activities into K-12 STEM curriculum.

Teachers can take one or both courses to get started on integrating computing and robotics into their curriculum. For teachers who have no any prior computer programming experience, we recommend that they attend the entire two-week summer institute.
