On-site training is available from the C-STEM’s qualified trainers. You supply the training room, computers,  robots, books, Pi, and/or Arduino (kits), and we supply the expertise.  Professional development tailored to your school or district setting with an emphasis on a special topics  or grade level is available. The price for on-site training is listed below.*

Currently, the C-STEM Center offers three types of on-site professional development, each geared towards implementing different C-STEM curricula. But, we can further tailor the on-site training contents to fit your school/district setting.

Samples of  On-Site Professional Development Offered:

(1) Common Core Mathematics with Computing and Robotics

A Common Core Math Standards based two, three or four day course which trains STEM educators in reinforcing mathematical concepts through practical applications with hands-on computing and robotics activities. This professional development supports the C-STEM curriculum Exploring Mathematics with Computing and Robotics, Math 7 with Computing, Math 8 with Computing, Algebra 1 with Computing, Algebra 1 with Robotics and Computing, Integrated Mathematics 1 with Computing,  Integrated Mathematics 1 with Robotics and ComputingIntegrated Mathematics 2 with Computing, and Integrated Mathematics 2 with Robotics and Computing.

(2) Robotics and Physical Computing Technologies

A two day course which trains STEM educators in cutting-edge robotics and physical computing technology to engage students in critical thinking and other 21st century skills through collaborative activities which explore topics in math, science, engineering, and computer programming. This professional development supports the C-STEM curriculum Robotics and Film Production and Computing with Robotics.

(3) Computer Programming for Solving Applied Problems

A three day course which trains educators in integrating computer programming and computer science into STEM related curriculum. Activities reinforce logical reasoning and critical thinking skills through computing activities in which students write functions, visualize, process, save and plot experimental and hypothetical data. This professional development supports the C-STEM curriculum Computer Programming with Ch, and  Computer Programming for Solving Applied Problems.

“I had no knowledge of UC Davis’s C-STEM project.  I learned how to write code to run a Linkbot and display a graph of the motion.  I plan to ask my students to work in groups to measure and edit code to command a robot to move to specific position.  The goal is to improve their measurement skills, ability to apply the equation of motion, predict graphs,  and interpret graphs but most of all to become engaged and enthusiastic about science!  My experience at the C-STEM professional development will allow this to happen!”
